Itinerary
Day 1
Depart USA on your overnight flight to Paris.
Day 2
Arrive in Paris and transfer on your own to the Hotel Normandy - a
lovely 4 star hotel in the heart of
theatrical and historical Paris. Meet in lobby in late afternoon to join your group for a transfer to
Le Hotel Grand - home
to the Opera Salon (as
depicted on Elizabeth's book cover). From the author, hear
the history of this beautiful venue including the tribute to Sarah Bernhardt.
Then enjoy a late afternoon tea in the beautiful
Café de la Paix.
The rest of the evening is at your leisure and to rest from your long overseas journey.
Enjoy breakfast in your hotel. Then transfer via coach to the Left Bank for a walking tour with the author as she points out places with various theatrical and writer connections. Follow this with a lovely three course lunch at La Coupole-home to American writers of the 1920s. Return to hotel for free time and an opportunity to freshen up for the special evening at Comedie-Francais. After a short walk from the hotel to the theatre, the group will be given a private tour (in English) of this famous theatre and its connections to Moliere. Then enjoy a private champagne reception with canapés. And finally it's on to experiencing Parisian theatre first hand (Note: Although the production may not be in English, the performance is suitable for those not fluent in French).
Day 3
Enjoy breakfast in your hotel with free time in the morning to explore Paris on your own. Then in the early
afternoon, meet your English speaking guide in the hotel for a walk to
the Palais Royal Gardens.
Here you'll learn about how this grand structure was home to Colette,
Jean Cocteau and
the Grand Vefour Restaurant.
Then continue on to the Musee de la Vie Romantique.
Complete the afternoon with a private guided visit to the
Opera Garnier with a visit in the theater de L'Athenee.
After returning to the hotel to freshen up, journey to the
glorious Le Train Bleu restaurant for dinner. This beautiful second empire
'train station' restaurant is quite unique.
Day 4
After breakfast in your hotel, depart from Paris for a lovely day's journey to
Nohant, the chateau that was home to the French playwright George Sand and where
she lived with Chopin. Enjoy lunch at
a charming restaurant in the Nohant area. Return to Paris in late afternoon with rest of the evening at your leisure.
Day 5
Breakfast is in your hotel with the morning free to pursue your own interests - perhaps another museum or some
shopping. In the early afternoon, meet your English speaking guide and transfer via coach to visit the
Musee National de Eugene Delacroix.
From there, continue to the Hotel de Rohan
- Guemenee to visit the Victor Hugo home.
End the day with dinner at Le Boeuf sur le Toit,
a popular theatre hangout in the 20's.
Day 6
Breakfast is in your hotel with the rest of the day free to see more of the glorious sites of Paris,
or take a stroll down the Champs Elysees for
that last minute shopping. However, plan on time to get ready
for the special farewell dinner at the famous Bofingers,
considered to be one of the oldest restaurants in Paris.
Day 7
After your final breakfast in the hotel, transfer via coach to the airport for your
journey back home. Note: only one coach transfer will be arranged and schedule will
be set to meet all departures.
